changelog
What’s new.
Every release, in order. The add-on shows these notes in-app before you update.
1.1.6stableOct 2026
- Fixed: joining a room could be refused before reaching the server if an admin had renamed the room or given it a short password from the Admin panel.
- Problems with a new room's name or password are now explained by the server, so the message always matches what it accepts.
- A smaller, leaner extension: unused code has been removed.
1.1.5stableOct 2026
- Blend Buddies now confirms it is talking to the official Blend Buddies server before sending anything, including your room password, and refuses to connect otherwise.
- Updates are installed only if they are signed by Blend Buddies, and update notices and surveys are checked the same way.
1.1.4stableOct 2026
- Safer joins: before a room replaces your open file, Blend Buddies saves and checks a backup of it first, unsaved painted textures included. If the room's scene can't be loaded, nothing is cleared and sync pauses instead of leaving a half-built scene.
- Safer drivers: scripted driver expressions from other members only run if they are plain math. Anything else is kept but not run unless you turn on "Trust scripted driver expressions from the room" in Preferences.
- Fixed: edits made during a brief disconnect are re-sent when you reconnect instead of being lost, and anything the server could not confirm shows up under Sync issues. Leave Room now warns when edits are still unconfirmed.
- Saved room passwords are now protected by a key kept in your system's credential store (Keychain on macOS). Your saved rooms move over automatically.
- Room backups now bring back the textures, fonts and sounds they were taken with, and automatic backups cover every scene.
- Oversized or malformed images from a room are refused instead of freezing Blender.
1.1.3stableOct 2026
- Fixed: images dragged and dropped into Blender now move, rotate and scale live for everyone in the room. Before, a dropped image moved by anyone who got it by joining the room didn't move for the others, and snapped back on the mover's own screen.
1.1.2stableOct 2026
- Fixed: parenting is kept when you leave and rejoin a room. Objects parented while in the room used to come back unparented for anyone who rejoined or joined late.
- Fixed: render settings changed in a room are kept on rejoin, instead of reverting to how they were when the room was made.
- Fixed: frame range, frame rate, units and gravity now sync to everyone in the room and are kept on rejoin.
- Fixed: scrubbing or playing the timeline no longer sends your render settings to the room on every frame.
- Fixed: vertex parenting keeps the vertices you picked, and changing only the parent type, bone or parent inverse now reaches everyone.
- Fixed: a curve's taper and bevel objects are kept on rejoin.
- Fixed: keyframe edits are no longer undone on rejoin by an older copy of the animation.
- Fixed: after a rejoin, anything that failed to load on your side is no longer erased for the whole room by your next edit.
1.1.1stableOct 2026
- Fixed: rooms with three or more people no longer fall behind. Every structural edit used to pause everyone else's live movement while the server wrote the whole scene to disk; that write is now off the hot path, and the server reports how long edits wait so we can see it.
- Fixed: one person on a slow connection no longer stalls everybody else. They are dropped cleanly and reconnect on their own instead of freezing the room for the rest.
- Fixed: changes other people make while you are joining a busy room are kept and applied once your scene finishes loading, instead of being silently lost.
- Fixed: vertex edits made in Edit Mode are now stored by the room, so they survive a rejoin and reach people who join later.
- Fixed: an object that was moved while you were lagging or briefly disconnected is now put right by the automatic repair, which previously only noticed property changes.
- Fixed: typing a value or toggling a setting on an object right after someone else moved it was sometimes dropped until your next edit. It now goes through.
- Fixed: reconnecting while working in a scene other than Main no longer drops you into Main and mixes the two scenes' objects.
- Fixed: a change that failed to apply on your side is pulled again instead of being reported as in sync.
1.1.0stableSep 2026
- This update is required: rooms now use a new sync format and 1.0.0 can no longer join. Your rooms and passwords are unchanged — the add-on updates itself from the Update panel.
- New: two people can work on the same scene without fighting. Every object now has a permanent identity, so renames, duplicates and two users adding the same name all just work.
- New: edits merge instead of overwriting. Change a material while someone else adds a modifier to the same object and both changes land.
- New: the room repairs itself. If anything ever drifts, it is pulled, shared or removed automatically within ten seconds — there is no Resync button any more, and nobody else's scene gets rebuilt.
- New: when the server refuses a change you are told why, with a Retry, instead of it silently vanishing.
- Fixed: objects deleted right before leaving no longer come back when you rejoin.
- Fixed: restoring a backup now actually restores the room for everyone.
- Fixed: circles, edge loops and other faceless meshes sync.
- Fixed: moving an object no longer snaps back when someone else edits its properties.
- Fixed: an object whose mesh had a different name could pile up stale mesh copies in the room.
- Fixed: opening the same room from two Blender windows on one computer silently stopped one window receiving updates; the older window is now told it was replaced.
